WOW what a long hiatus this blog has gone thru hahas. Was thinking of posting since after taiwan trip but procrastinated and had not much time anyways. Time flies really fast and it's already the 4th week of 2010!! WOW isn't it? Anyways just a little update on the US trip I MUST UPDATE THIS hahas.:
Airport: Yup this time din have to take midnight flight as we followed the tour grp. So woke up, did last minute checks and off we go! We checked in and met the tour coordinator but not the tour guide (she had a previous trip in US so our trip was her second grp). Checked in thru T3 and then we waited to board the plane. Used the free coms while waiting heehee and watched cruel temptation!!! MUST WATCH wahaha. So we boarded the plane and had a really really long flight. Watched a few new movies including bandslam, up, 500 days of summer and some magic rainbow rock thing. REALLY NICE! hahas oh we took singapore airlines btw.
Day 1: After 16+ hours of flight, stopping by japan for half hour, we finally reached US~! woohoo! we waited super long for our baggage. most families were just missing one piece of luggage. Then we proceded to meet the tourguide ---- CELINE! met our tour grp, just a quick glance before we boarded the bus to our first hotel at 2 pm-- Holiday Inn. Surprisingly the hotel wasn't that bad. Had connecting rooms. Oh and on the bus the tour guide realised we left a family of five behind at the airport! Luckily she managed to get two but not connecting rooms for them. We had break till 3.30pm before setting off for a mini shopping trip to a shopping mall. So mum,dad,sis and I walked to this very very nice and unique restaurant nearby! SUPER NICE. The decor rocks. They served groundnuts and asked you to throw the peanut shells on the floor!! hahas we were laughing and eating happily YAY. mum, sis and i ordered chili dogs with cheese and dad ordered (dang i forgot). The portions were HUGE!!! we could have ordered two portions. But it was really great! The chili was different from our singapore chili, its like a sauce and its not spicy but still NICE. hahas. Oh and one thing in US, you have to tip them, ranging from 10%-15%. Food was reasonably priced. After eating, we headed back and interacted more with the tour ppl. Shall just name the people in the group (will elaborate at end of post): Ryan, his mum and dad, Tze Wynn, Tze Shawn, Uncle Sam and Auntie Loraine, Marcus, Sam, Melvin and their mum and dad, Charlene, Charmaine and their dad, 2 couples and this extended family of eight all adults. Yup.
After break it was supposed to be free and easy but celine suggested going to a nearby shopping centre so 2 buses were called to fetch us there. The shopping was really fun! Bought a lot of things -- jackets, vest, all were so cheap!! Yup so shopped for groceries too at Walmart. Bought water! hahas 24 bottles!! VERY CHEAP too! hahas US things are really really cheap! So met back at 6.45 pm (?) and took the bus back. Dinner was on our own but we were really full so din eat but dad went to the hotel restaurant called red robins and had burger. Slept really well, had jet lag so yeah.
Day 2: Went to universal studios!!!! WOOHOO. We entered hollywood village and went to the chinese thing were all the famous ppl like bruce lee, jackie chan, arnold schosoneggar (?) etc. acted. There was this foot print+hand print on this cemented area. All the slabs which had the prints on were arranged in the shape of america! Saw donald ducks's footprints and handprints too! hahas celine said jackie chan didn't want to do his cause he din like the idea of ppl stepping on them hahas. There is this "road" of stars too, showing the awards or the person which stretched till very very long! But we only saw a small section of it. Yup took pictures and then went to the souvenir shop! Bought thimbles and redeemed the free gift coupon they were giving out when we alighted from the bus.
Headed to the theme park! WHEE super fun! took pictures with fiona from shrek and george the curious monkey!!! hahas "fiona" was commenting that she liked our jackets cause they are like marshmallows!! ahahas. yup we rock, i know xD then we headed to the simpsons stimulator ride! SUPER FUN! hahas but a little gross when our "cart" went inside baby maggie's mouth and there was "saliva" splattered on us zzz. After that went to other rides. OH and I was really scared to go into the haunted house. ZZZ. But had no choice. Aiyoh wanted to give up halfway queuing. zzz we purposely queued so we would be in the middle then somehow became in front but behind melvin and family. WONG CHOICE. zz melvin kept screaming at every corner la! even though there was nothing there. Then his dad was covering his mum's face and I was super freaked out. Sam was scared too and Marcus a little. I like fell backwards a few times cause i din wanna move but my dad and mum kept pulling me forward so i moved backwards. The people kept appearing out of nowhere la! OMG. Then there was this part where this grffin wolf like thing was like touching ppl's head. Marcus went forward and the wolf attempted to climb over to touch him. He like moved backwards shouting "Don't touch me!" then melvin took this chance and scooted across, crouching low. I was totally freaked out!!! I cried and shouted telling the wolf to go away but the person tried to touch my head even more la! i fell again and when my mum tried to asked block me, the wolf's hand went under her hand!! I was TOTALLY FREAKED OUT. zzz. in the end the others went first and my sis too. she actually backed away and fell on top of me hahas. then she just followed the crowd. URGH still managed to pass through but was really really traumatised. See, I already said I din wanna go still force me. zzz. Hahas and I tore my dad's 3 USD poncho xD and Marcus said it was scary too though my mum claimed it was nothing. hahas she said she was basically just protecting me xD hahas tyty ^^
After more rides, went to souvenir shop. Only bought a pin cause nothing else to buy. I realised last time buy so much all dunno where to put when reach home so just got the pin for memorie's sake xD After universal studios, we went to some Chinese seafood restaurant for dinner ^^ Sat with wynn and family cause just nice 8 ppl. Hahas. Wynn appeared shy at first but HE IS SOOO NOT. hahas. he just kept playing his psp. Dinner was ok but the food was salty >< and oranges for fruits hahas. After that went back to hotel and slept early cause next day have to wake up early again.
Day 3: Went to DISNEYLAND!!!! hahas. was raining but we had our hoods. queued up to go in and took some pics first. then ppl went to buy poncho. 6 USD!! universal studios cheaper hahas. Then sat rides. She brought us to all the thrilling rides but we sat most before cause we went to disneyland twice xD Still fun though ^^
